Good Books!

I love to read! Some of my favorite books are: The Hunger Games, Evermore, (from the Immortal series) Flush, Hoot, and The Help. I am going to give a quick reveiw of The Hunger Games and The Help.I recomend them all!



Some really good books that I love

1. The Hunger Games is an exciting book based in a future in North America (now called Panem) where the continent has been segrigated into twelve districts and the capital (the capital is a very rich and selfish city). Katniss Everdeen (a seventeen year old girl) lives in district twelve, which is the lowest and poorest district. Her father died in a mine explosion which left her to have to care for the family (which is her mother and her little sister prim) at the age of twelve. Her mother was not able to do anything at all because her husband's death had caused her to go into shock, which lasted many years. To feed her family Katniss hunted with her father's bow and arrow. Then she traded some of her meat at a place called the Hob (a black market) all of this was illegal, and she could be killed for doing so. The Hunger Games is coming up soon. The Hunger Games is a battle to the death that the capital forces upon the districts. In each district two people, one girl and one boy, between the ages of 12 and 18 are called at the reaping (where they choose names out of a ball) When Katniss's sister Prim is called Katniss volunteers to go in place of her. She is forced on a very fast train to go practice for the hunger games. To figure out what happens during hunger games, you are going to have to read it.

2. The Help is from around the 1960s where dark skinned people helped around the house, taking care of kids and cooking, ect. The book follows three main people: two african americans that are "the help" to two different rich families, and 1 white woman who wamts to be a famous writer. The white woman has an idea to write about the dark skinned workers and what they think about life and what is going on in the world at the time. She asks lots of them to give their opinion, and finally she got one woman to say yes to helping her. They got together in secret, even though they could be arrested. Another african american woman who has a fiesty temper is having trouble getting and keeping jobs. But she finds a quirky lady who offeres her a job. This lady seems completly crazy to her, but she keeps going and working and figures out that shecan stand this job more than she thought! :)
